Cleveland Browns Information

2007-08 Cleveland Browns

Fans remain hopeful that there's nowhere to go but up for Cleveland this season - Hey, anything is better than the losing streak they have been on in recent seasons. The Browns have decided to go with Charlie Frye as their QB, choosing him over Derek Anderson. One good thing Cleveland has going for it is Brady Quinn, who performed great in the preseason - and seems to have the city behind him. The Browns are not a playoff team this season, but fans can definitely expect improvement - Cleveland can't afford not to improve.

Previous Seasons

The 2005-2006 Cleveland Browns finished their third straight losing season, disappointing Browns ticket holders. After poor play from original starting quarterback Trent Dilfer, Charlie Frye took over the reigns for the completion of the season. However, the team saw little help with the change and finished last in the AFC North. Head coach Romeo Crennel will use the off-season to insure that his second year with the Browns can be more productive, and fans in Cleveland hope to see a return to the playoffs soon. It’s been awhile, bit no NFL fan can forget what it’s like in Browns Stadium when the “Dog Pound” gets rocking.

While the Browns have been a part of the National Football League since 1950, the city of Cleveland suffered a brief absence of professional football from 1996 to 1998 when owner Art Modell relocated the team to Baltimore. However, the team’s history stayed on the shores of Lake Erie and football action returned in 1999 with a new Cleveland Browns Stadium. Despite only one winning season in the last seven years, Browns football tickets remain some of the hottest tickets in the NFL because of the team’s dedicated fan base.

Before the team’s absence of play, the Browns were one of the most successful franchises in the NFL, winning three NFL Championships (before the addition of the Super Bowl) in the early 1950s. The Browns won an additional championship in 1964 while their most notable player, fullback Jim Brown, was a part of the squad. Brown’s nine seasons in the NFL proved him to be one of the best players to ever play the game. He was selected to the Pro Bowl during each of his professional seasons, scoring 126 touchdowns and never missing a game. Brown’s offensive dominance helped sustain the Browns as one of the league’s best teams. Despite his departure in 1966, the Browns continued among the upper echelon of the NFL, making two more championship appearances. After the NFL merger in 1970, the Browns enjoyed moderate success in the AFC, but they never managed to win the conference. From 1985 to 1990, quarterback Bernie Kosar and head coach Marty Schottenheimer led the team to five consecutive playoff appearances.

Can Cleveland Browns tickets deliver a winner in 2006? Quite possibly. Crennel will use the off-season to decide who can deliver consistency at the quarterback position, and the Browns’ selections in the NFL draft will bring young hope to the besieged program. After missing the entire 2005-2006 season, tight end Kellen Winslow’s recovery will add a much needed offensive weapon to the team, and the Browns will work to finally succeed in the AFC North. With Crennel at the helm, a bevy of young draft picks, and the return of what may be a future NFL Hall of Fame tight end in Kellen Winslow, Cleveland Brown tickets may be on the rebound.
